Henderson Clinics
What Henderson clinics need from a Nevada physician.
Henderson is Nevada’s second-largest city, with about 353,000 residents in the Census Bureau’s July 2025 estimate. Most of its medspas, weight loss clinics, and wellness practices need a physician somewhere in their chain of care. Because Nevada APRNs can practice independently, a medical director in Henderson, NV typically covers specific gaps: Schedule II protocols for new APRNs, PA supervision, orders for RN aesthetic treatments, and oversight for advanced estheticians.
Medical Director Co. places a Nevada-licensed physician who handles whichever of those your clinic needs. Newer APRNs get the Schedule II protocol the Board of Nursing requires until they reach 2,000 hours, and PAs get a supervising physician on file with the Board of Medical Examiners.

Common Challenges
Where Henderson providers usually get stuck.
Schedule II prescribing for newer APRNs
APRNs with fewer than 2 years or 2,000 hours of clinical experience need a collaborating physician’s protocol to prescribe Schedule II drugs, which mostly affects psychiatric NPs who prescribe ADHD stimulants.
An order behind every aesthetic treatment
Nevada RNs need an order from a practitioner who assessed the patient before each injectable or laser treatment.
Physicians with full rosters
Nevada caps how many PAs and APRNs one physician can oversee at a time, so finding an available physician can push back your opening day.

Nevada Rules

APRN Practice and Schedule II Prescribing
Nevada APRNs don’t need a standing collaborative agreement to diagnose, treat, or prescribe. The exception is Schedule II drugs. Under NRS 632.237, an APRN with fewer than 2 years or 2,000 hours of clinical experience can prescribe them only under a protocol approved by a collaborating physician.
The Board of Nursing publishes a sample Schedule II protocol that APRNs file with the Board. Controlled substance prescribing also requires Nevada Board of Pharmacy authorization and DEA registration.
RN Aesthetic Procedures
The Board of Nursing’s January 2025 Practice Advisory Decision on aesthetic procedures spells out what RNs can do and at what supervision level. Each treatment needs an individual order from a practitioner who assessed the patient and has a bona fide patient relationship.
Neuromodulators and most dermal fillers require the provider to be available for direct supervision. Filler in the under-eye, nasal, jawline, and temporal zones requires immediate supervision, with the provider on site. APRNs with independent practice authority who meet the training rules in NAC 632.255 can perform aesthetic procedures without supervision.
Who Can Inject Neuromodulators and Fillers
Nevada limits these injections by statute. NRS 629.086 covers dermal fillers and NRS 454.217 covers neuromodulators such as Botox. Both allow physicians, PAs, RNs, APRNs, and specially trained dentists and podiatrists to inject. Injections must take place at a medical facility or a qualifying provider’s office, and an authorized injector can’t delegate them to anyone outside that list.
Physician Assistant Supervision
Nevada PAs must work under a Nevada-licensed supervising physician. Under NAC 630.370, that physician is responsible for the PA’s medical activities, reviews and initials selected charts, and stays available for consultation at all times.
The Board of Medical Examiners must have the supervising physician on file before the PA provides care. A 2025 bill to replace supervision with collaboration, SB 294, did not pass, so these rules still apply.
Advanced Esthetician Supervision
Advanced estheticians licensed by the State Board of Cosmetology can perform nonablative esthetic medical procedures under NRS 644A.545. They need a supervising licensed health care professional, such as a physician, to do that work. Ablative procedures stay outside the advanced esthetician’s scope, whatever device or method the clinic uses.
Clinic Ownership
Nevada follows the corporate practice of medicine doctrine, based on a 1977 Attorney General opinion and the professional entity rules in NRS Chapter 89. Clinics that deliver medical services generally run them through a professional entity owned by licensed practitioners. A management services organization can handle the business side. Ownership rules for APRN-owned practices involve more nuance, so confirm your structure with a Nevada healthcare attorney.
Telehealth and Remote Oversight
NRS 629.515 allows Nevada-licensed providers to deliver care through telehealth. Under NAC 632.048, direct supervision means the provider is available for immediate guidance, so a medical director can oversee most RN aesthetic work remotely. Procedures graded for immediate supervision still need a provider physically present.
Compliance Gaps We Help Henderson Clinics Close
- APRNs prescribing Schedule II drugs before reaching 2,000 hours without a physician protocol
- RN injectors treating patients without an individual order from a practitioner who assessed them
- Under-eye, nasal, or jawline filler performed without a provider on site
- PAs seeing patients before the Board has their supervising physician on file
- Medical assistants or estheticians injecting neuromodulators or fillers
- Agreements left stale after a physician leaves, even though NAC 630.340 requires immediate notice to the Board

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions.
Do medspas in Henderson need a medical director?
Nevada has no medspa-specific statute that names a medical director role. RNs still need an individual order from a practitioner who assessed the patient before every injectable or laser treatment. Most Henderson medspas with RNs, PAs, or advanced estheticians use one medical director to cover that oversight.
Can nurse practitioners practice independently in Nevada?
Nevada lets licensed APRNs diagnose, treat, and prescribe without a standing collaborative agreement. Schedule II drugs are the exception for APRNs with fewer than 2 years or 2,000 hours of clinical experience. Those APRNs need a protocol approved by a collaborating physician under NRS 632.237.
Can RNs perform injectables in Henderson?
The Board of Nursing places neuromodulators and most dermal fillers within RN scope, with the provider available for direct supervision. Filler in the under-eye, nasal, jawline, and temporal zones requires the provider on site. Every treatment also needs an order from a practitioner who assessed the patient.
Can a medical director supervise remotely?
Remote oversight covers most Nevada arrangements, since direct supervision means the provider is available for immediate guidance. Procedures graded for immediate supervision, such as under-eye filler, need the provider physically present. PA supervising physicians must stay available for consultation at all times under NAC 630.370.
Can non-physicians own a medspa in Nevada?
Nevada follows the corporate practice of medicine doctrine through a 1977 Attorney General opinion and NRS Chapter 89. Medical services generally run through a professional entity owned by licensed practitioners, with a management services organization handling business operations. APRN-owned structures involve more nuance, so confirm yours with a Nevada healthcare attorney.
Can a medical assistant inject Botox in Nevada?
NRS 454.217 and NRS 629.086 limit neuromodulator and filler injections to physicians, PAs, RNs, APRNs, and trained dentists and podiatrists. Medical assistants and estheticians fall outside that list. An authorized injector also can’t delegate the injection to them.
How many providers can one Nevada physician oversee?
NAC 630.495 generally caps a physician at three PAs, three APRNs, or a combination of three at one time. The Board can approve more when a physician shows a special need and adequate supervision. Ask any prospective medical director how many agreements they already hold before you sign.
